Ellas Kitchen :: Global Website, Email and eCRM Platform
Ellas Kitchen, a Billington Cartmell client, is one of the worlds leading organic baby food manufacturers and i was responsible for the build and roll out of a new eCRM platform that consisted of a multi-site WordPress-based platform for websites with email, Facebook and customer service functionality built in.
Global Website Platform with Localised Sites
The website was designed on the clients request to emulate the cartoon look and feel of the brand including ‘wiggly borders’ on all assets. The site was a full rebuild mainly in PHP and HTML5 with the odd flash asset for selected animation. Full localisation for European territories, America and Australia is possible and further territories could be added at will. All content and functional modules could be seamlessly deployed between territories creating both content aggregation, convenience and economies of scale. Customer details were also stored centrally and a Single Customer view was achieved that proves invaluable in email marketing and intelligent design and communication. eCommerce was the most recent addition to the platform enabling all their products to be purchased and their inventory to be managed centrally.
Part of the eCRM Platform was the ability for the client to login and create targeted email campaigns at will from editable templates that we had designed for them. Using Campaign Monitors API we seamlessly connected the global customer view from the websites and Facebook apps into a filterable mail list enabling detailed user segmentation for the creation and serving of highly targeted messaging.
The final significant piece to the Ellas Kitchen eCRM platform was the Facebook App management technology that we encoded within the environment and ran off a multi-site SSL. This enabled Facebook Apps to be deployed as easily as a new site, containing all the predefined generic functionality that apps require like like-gates, accepting permissions, sharing, identifying top ten friends, storing user data etc. The only ‘work’ that needed doing was the creative and content layer to sit on top.

Babybel :: SpaceHopper Campaign
Whilst at Brave we created a Babybel’s SpaceHopper Campaign that allowed participants to upload their own picture (generally of children) and position and wrap it round a Babybel branded space-hopper. These were then printed remotely and delivered back to the user. The code was Php-based and the platform was WordPress.
Scotty Brand :: Pixar's Brave Facebook App and Website Updates
Scotty Brand, a Billington Cartmell client, is a leading vegetable brand sold in the majority of supermarkets. Scotty had teamed up with Disney and Pixar for the launch of Brave, the animated movie about a red-haired Scottish girl on an adventure. I was responsible for the build of the Facebook App which contained a simple game with ‘Magic Moments’, predefined winning times so users who took part could randomly and securely win prizes. Other features included the ability to check unique urns form on-pack codes and deliver prizes and coupon vouchers against them too.
Ellas Kitchen :: Global Websites, Banners & Facebook Apps
Whilst Technical Director at Billington Cartmell I was responsible for all digital work produced for their client Ellas Kitchen, the leading baby food manufacturer.
The work involved the full mix of digital channels including a global website framework, ecommerce, facebook apps, HTML5 and Flash banners and client-editible email campaigns. In addition I was also responsible for the vetting and tweaking of their first nationwide TV campaign, thus ensuring that it and the assets created could be leverage efficiently within an highly interactive digital campaign too.
I had numerous strategic and technical meetings with the client and related third parties and attended focus groups with mothers in order to investigate proposed routes.
Integra CLO :: WordPress Site
Integra Community Living Options provides residential support and rehabilitation for men and women with enduring mental health issues and complex needs between the ages of 18 to 64. I was commissioned by them to build a new website to replace their rather dated original site.
Built using WordPress, the site closely follows their branding guidelines to produce a clean, simple interface enabling visitors to find exactly what they want, easily. The site was setup to be instantly scalable and self managed by their various staff.
Gracelands Yard :: BuddyPress Site
Gracelands yard is basically a collective of alternative therapists and practitioners working together to offer a vast array of health therapies.
I was asked to build a site that complemented their easy going surroundings and philosophy whilst conveying a wealth of information about the services and classes on offer. I used a multisite instance of wordpress and added the powerful buddypress plugin.
Each practioner had their own sub domain microsite within the gracelands umbrella site enabling them to control and administer their own content on the site whilst contributing as editors to the main site. Each sub domain also had the ability to render as a bespoke standalone site too. Groups and forums were also requested although they haven’t seen much use yet!
Ki Performance :: Chief Technical Officer for StartUp
I was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ki Performance, a leading health and wellbeing provider to primarily manage their technical relationships with third parties, spec and develop white-labelled health and diet portals and create affiliate technologies that could increase sales opportunities. It was a very hands on role with considerable time was spent using Open Source, namely WordPress and Magento.
Whilst there i was also designed and built a rich media campaign to increase armband sales and even planned and deployed the placements of these ads on Google’s Ad Network. Additionally I had to maintain and develop their ASP-based ecommerce site, their Word Press-based blog, their YouTube channel and other online press and PR.
Internally, I was involved with the day to day running of the business, acting as a catalyst to working smarter at every opportunity. Areas included creating a content archive, introducing cloud-based collaboration including the externalising of all communications and creating an in house support ticketing system utilising trellis desk.
Substantial time was also spent investigating the migration of their current .ASP eCommerce store to an open source Magento-based system.
Miranda Arneil :: V-UI (Flash Site)
Another V-UI (flash site) for a leading London-based makeup artist, Miranda Arneil. A photo-rich portfolio site showcasing some of her work.
OS-Digital :: WordPress Site
I have just finished a new wordpress-based website for Outsorcery, a leading London-based creative studio. Its a portfolio-based site with a crisp, modern design. Features included dynamic content dependant on page keywords and an interactive flash based portfolio section. It was built as a child theme of my own D1g1tal theme.
Digital :: Social Network in BuddyPress
Have just finished a social network-based site for my company, Digital, that’s based on the BuddyPress platform albeit with a lot of advanced, bespoke functionality.
Lots of clever features including voice communication, groups, forums, chatrooms (public and private), member-only content and the ability to build your own sites. Check it out.
